Seek the lost, Nurture the Faithful, Show Compassion
Shine in the Light of Christ
Website 101
“And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship.” Exodus 31:3
Greetings family.
St. John Lutheran will embark on yet further refinements and change for our members. From our humble beginnings here in Lawton to the first public building with air conditioning, change is nothing new. God has blessed us with so much talent within our community. If you have not yet noticed, the church website has changed significantly. We have partnered with Concordia Publishing House, their Technology Solutions side of operations, with hosting our new website. With this, not only does our monetary contribution stay within the mission and operations of the LCMS, it will allow us to custom tailor our Family for our instructed mission; to seek the lost, nurture the faithful, and show compassion to all as we shine the light of Christ!
St. John Lutheran is embarking on a new journey, much like our blessed electronic sign in front, our Church will begin a technological side of the outreach to others. We encourage you to understand the usefulness of this technology God has blessed. Stand by for further documents and instructions on how to utilize this technology. Go to > www.stjohnlutheranlawton.com > News > Website 101 to keep up to date on the changes and instruction manuals.
You will notice some changes, emails, text messages and the like in the coming months, and ongoing to the future. We as a family, will have better tools to equip ourselves with the responsibilities God has given us, and also those we give to ourselves, such as volunteer and lay ministry work. One of the major notices will be the online Membership side of the house. As a Member of St. John, we will be able to communicate to each other more clearly and specifically, outside of the normal public view. We will have the Church directory in “real time”, meaning you can modify your address and phone number, lookup others, rather than waiting for the next printed directory to come out. This membership directory is only visible to St. John members. You will also be able to “hide” your personal information (home address, emails, and phone numbers only) from the view of others with the exception of Church Staff. Important, do not delete your information as this will delete from the central database, simply click or un-click “Listed” information next to the information you wish to hide from the congregation. See > News > Website 101 for detailed information.
We also will incorporate online tithing and volunteer/committee appointments and tasks in the upcoming months. For instance, we will be able to send text messages for reminders such as Alter Guild duty, Usher duty, sign-ups for flowers, Lent and Advent meals. If you have any questions, please call Jonathan Mackay at 808-343-0291 or email at jmackay23@hotmail.com, please leave a message.
For now, we encourage you to send Sandra, the church secretary, with your email address so we can send email invitations. If you have multiple family members under the same household name, please provide separate email addresses, if you desire, for each member and therefore, each member will have their own account. She can be reached at (580) 353-0556 or email at stjohnlcsec@gmail.com.
God Bless and have a wonderful day,
Jonathan Mackay (Trustee and defacto Webmaster)
