Shine in the Light of Christ
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.” Isaiah 52:7

Devotion:
The Lord Jesus Brings Division on Earth for the Sake of Peace with God in Heaven
False prophets preach what their hearers want to hear, promising peace even when the Lord has spoken “war, famine, and pestilence” (Jeremiah 28:8). But if “the Lord has truly sent the prophet,” he speaks what the Lord has spoken, and “the word of that prophet comes to pass” (Jeremiah 28:9). The preaching of God’s Law is hard, because it confronts sin, brings it to light and makes it worse, “sinful beyond measure,” thereby “producing death” in the sinner (Romans 7:13). But through our Baptism into Christ, “we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive” (Romans 7:6). Now we belong “to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God” (Romans 7:4). Belonging to Him puts us at odds with the world and divides us from all earthly ties, not only from our human family, but each person from his own life. For Christ does not come “to bring peace, but a sword” (Matthew 10:34). Yet, whoever takes up his cross to follow Christ, and “loses his life” for Christ’s sake, finds new life in Him (Matthew 10:38–39).

What a friend we have in Jesus...take it to the Lord in Prayer. Church members may find prayer request names after signing in {"log in"} and navigating to this link under the Membership Directory Web Page.
Life Quotes: “God always makes life, and He always makes life worth it. The Good Giver of Life also accompanies each one as the Almighty Lord of ‘my power is made perfect in weakness’ (2 Corinthians 12:9). The crucifixion forgiveness of Jesus Christ proves that He constantly populates the adversities themselves with delights.”
Life Thoughts In The Church Year: Peter and Paul could not have been more different! Peter was among Jesus’ original disciples. Paul was a persecutor of the Church before his conversion. Peter’s ministry focused on the Jews; Paul’s was to the Gentiles (Galatians 2:7-10). Yet on this day, Peter and Paul are honored as equal pillars of the Church. The Church is built on the communal confession that Jesus is the Christ (Matthew 16:16). So let us all have confidence in proclaiming the For Life message, wherever our particular mission field is!

SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS:
Please join us for Sunday School from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Whether your child is new to St. John or has been attending for years, we offer a nurturing environment where they can explore God's Word in age-appropriate ways. Our dedicated teachers are passionate about helping children understand Biblical truths and apply them to everyday life. We can't wait to grow together in faith!
Our June lessons will focus on David and Psalms. We will be practicing watching the animated movie David, drawing comic strips about our favorite part of his life, and making a joyful noise unto the Lord as we learn different psalms in song. This week's Memory Verse is: The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. Psalm 23:1-2
Can You Help Us With Our Sunday School Bulletin Board? Would you be willing to share a time when God has been at work in your life? If so, please write or type your story and place it in the box marked "God at Work" on the credenza. Our plan is to create a bulletin board documenting God's great love for us. Thank you in advance!
You can access the pictorial directory on-line by Logging into your account in top right corner. Navigate to >ABOUT US >MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY. Call or see Jonathan Mackay, 808-343-0291, if you are not able to login with your account.
